Our church's mission is to share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible in our community and throughout the world (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20); to help every member develop into full Christian maturity and train them for effective service (2 Timothy 3:16-17); encourage and practice public and personal intimacy with God, (John 4:24); use our spiritual gifts in the power of the Holy Spirit to meet emotional and spiritual needs of others (1 Corinthians 12:4-6); and encourage, support, and pray for others in the family of God (Acts 2:44-47).
Our goal is to become the Church that Christ would have us to be by being obedient to the Great Commission (Matthew 22:19-20) and to the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40). Central Baptist Church prides itself in welcoming you with open arms.

Dr. Jason Metcalf grew up in New England where his father, Rev. Jimmy Metcalf, has been serving the Lord as a pastor for over 50 years. Jason accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on August 8th, 1994. He was called to preach that very same summer at the age of 12 and has been preaching the Gospel ever since. After he finished high school in Massachusetts, he moved to North Carolina to further his education. He attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville, NC, where he received his Associate of Religion degree. From there, he went on to attend North Greenville University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Christian Studies and later attended Foothills Theological School where he received his Masters and Doctorate of Ministry Degrees. He has pastored several churches, has been on the mission field in several countries, and is now serving the Lord here at Central Baptist Church in Cowpens, SC. His goals here at Central are to serve the Lord Jesus Christ; to preach the Gospel to those who are dead in their sins; to minister to and teach the children of God how to become Christ-like and how to mature spiritually while he continues to do the same. He in no way sees himself above those in the congregation, but as their minister, he is seeking to serve them just as the Lord ministers to and serves us. As Jesus says in Matthew 20:28 "Even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
